Our Grieving Hearts
It is with deep saddness that I make this entry. The last 2 weeks our hearts and minds have been consumed with thoughts and prayers for Rob and Leanne. After about a 2 week battle with lymphatic cancer, Rob died on March 27th. Words can't express the feelings of loss and deep sadness we feel.
Many people have supported them in presence and prayers throughout this brief illness. It's not fair. But through it all my faith in a faithful God has never wavered.
You know, I work in hospice, but even so, when you lose someone you've known for 26 years, the pain is so numbing. Such heaviness weighs down your heart. Rick was down with Rob and Leanne at the hospital in University of Washington. On the final day, Rick prayed over him. Part of that prayer was, "Your life of integrity has raised walls of protection around your wife, your children and grandchildren, and to your future generations." Thank you Rob... for your life. We will never forget you and we make a commitment to love and care for your family in the days to come.
When Jen called to tell me that Rob was gone, I was looking at this picture online:
An amazing local photographer, Susan Stevenson, took this picture in Homer a couple of weeks ago. When I saw it, my thoughts went immediately to Rob and the words that came to mind were, "Soaring With Purpose." Susan graciously gave me a print (it looks so much better than the image you can see here) and I gave it to Leanne today. I hope God speaks to her heart through this picture. I love you Leanne and Bethany and Kendra.
