When I arrived at their home, we transfered him in to a wheelchair and his wife held his head upright and I began. There were giggles and laughs and fun comments on how this haircut would turn out. We all started singing "oldie" songs from our past. We were having so much fun singing, I had to keep bringing myself back to what I was doing!! The cut turned out WELL! In fact, we rolled him over to a mirror and he kept gazing at his reflection - looking pretty pleased with himself! WHEW!
I was thrilled to do such a "small thing" that would help him to feel so much better about himself. He's a young man (47), great sense of humor, and this couple has wormed their way deeply into my heart. I love them and their kids a LOT!
Today...we go to the doctor again. I sure hope Doc "comments" on his new do!
Thank you Lord, for allowing me to bring a smile to this man. Thank you for allowing me to be in their lives.
Today I get my own haircut. I'm going to try to convince Scott, (my 24 yr old hairstylist) to take the hospice training so people can get "designer" haircuts! Good idea doncha think?!?
