A Life of Hospice

Last night was the first class of our 36 hour hospice training. Nothing encourages me more than being with people who love to serve this way. We have 12 new people and they are all wonderful people!

Katie went with me so she could hear Ann (our E.D.) talk about proper hand washing technique and infection control. A necessary training for the protection of both our volunteers and our patients. She took her homework but told me she didn't do any of it because it is always so interesting to listen to all we talk about.

I love this work. I know that God have given me a heart for being with people at the end of their life. It is the most rewarding job I could ever have. The presenters all did a great job and at breaks I could see that the new group was already beginning to bond. It happens so quickly.

Today, I'm taking it easy. I put a lot into organizing this training and get so excited about it that I'm just exhausted today! Next class is Saturday! Yaaay.

Individual worth: Every person is to be valued and respected regardless of their personal circumstances or qualities.
That is my *mantra* for my own involvement with hospice. Well, that and Love God and Love others!
